   Peggy Lynn (Friese) Baier, 71, of Redfield, SD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen, SD. 

   Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  Family will be present starting at 6:00 p.m.  A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m.

   Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 6, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield.  Reverend Keith C. Kraft will officiate.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.  After the committal service, lunch and fellowship will take place in the church fellowship hall.

   Peggy Lynn Friese was born February 13, 1951, in Redfield to Eldeen and Laura (Bymers) Friese.  She graduated from Redfield High School in 1969.  Peggy then attended the Aberdeen School of Commerce for bookkeeping/accounting and graduated in 1970.    After graduation, she moved to Rapid City, SD and worked for a jewelry store as a bookkeeper for three years and also met Oswald Baier. They moved to Redfield and were married on March 31, 1973, in Redfield and to this union, three children were born.  She was the bookkeeper and helped at the Bus Café, Drive In, and Cinema for over 20 years.  In 2001, she started working for USDA -NRCS in Huron, SD and worked for 21 years until retiring in October 2022.

   Family was very important to Peggy and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them.  She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and always made sure they got their favorite meal on their birthdays.  She enjoyed spending time at the lake and family get-togethers.  Her generosity, care for others, and spunky personality will be forever missed by her family and friends. 

   Peggy is survived by her two daughters: Kristi Fliehe (Joseph Heber) of Tulare, SD and her son Tristin (Abbey) Fliehe of Luverne, MN and daughter Trajan Fliehe of Watertown, SD; and Tracy Roberts of Redfield and her sons: Tevin Dow, Tyler Roberts, Talyn Roberts all of Redfield.  She is also survived by her granddaughter Emma Baier of Tolstoy, SD; sister Alice (Les) Walker, of Killarney, Manitoba, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oswald, son Dean Baier, sister Mary Allen, brother Dwight Friese, sister-in-law Monica Friese, son-in-law Jason Fliehe, nephew Roger Dean Allen, and niece Christina Triche.
