The happily married couple received his draft notice as a wedding present, and he then spent the next 20 years in the United States Navy and traveled the world. He retired from the Navy in 1989 as Quarter Master Chief E8. He then moved his family to Redfield and worked for the U.S. Postal Service, driving the same route as his father James had.
In his free time, Lynn enjoyed camping, reading, bowling, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandsons. After his wife Sherry passed, he adopted a dog named Maxine, who he loved very much.
He is survived by his son James Hardie of Sioux Falls, son Bradley (Linda) Hardie of Aberdeen, SD, son Jeremy Hardie of Sioux Falls, daughter Jessica (Todd) Hardie of Aberdeen, grandchildren Nathan and Kurtis Hardie of Aberdeen, mother Viola Hardie of Redfield, and sister Vickie Hardie of Rapid City, SD.
