Lanny L. Binger, 84, of Aberdeen, South Dakota passed away from a 6-year battle with

Lung Cancer on March 2, 2024. Lanny passed while wintering in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by his family. Lanny was born on December 20, 1939 to Harold “Harry” and Theo Binger in Redfield, South Dakota. After graduating from Tulare High School in 1957,  he went on to study at Huron College in Huron, South Dakota. Lanny’s career started as a cattle buyer with Armour Company in Huron, SD, then with MBPXL in Amarillo, TX. He was promoted to Wichita, KS as Head of the Cattle Buying for EXCEL Corp. and later promoted to Senior VP at Cargill until he retired in 1999. After retirement, Lanny went on to work with Consolidated Beef. He became a part owner of Bovina Feeders in Muleshoe, TX and worked with Heartbrand Beef as a consultant.

    Lanny enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, playing cards, dancing, and hunting during the yearly Binger pheasant hunt. He also enjoyed reminiscing and telling stories, and throughout the years, doing what he enjoyed most, which was buying, feeding and trading cattle. Lanny and Bonnie Behm were married on August 22, 1964 in Howard, South Dakota and had two children, Holly and Jason. They were married 43 years until Bonnie’s death in 2007. In 2011, Lanny married Janice “Jan” Losinger in Gold Canyon, AZ on March 5th.

    Lanny was preceded by his parents Harry and Theo, wife, Bonnie Behm-Binger, brothers,

Clayton and Rolla Binger, sisters, Shirley Bradfield and Wanda Dawson.

    He is survived by his wife Janice Losinger-Binger, his children: Holly (Mark) Reibenspies and Jason (Lisa) Binger; grandchildren: Chase (Kellsi) Reibenspies, Chad (Tori) Reibenspies, Hayley Reibenspies, Tiffany Gruber, Brendon (Danyell) Binger, Brianna Binger, and Christian Binger; great-grandchildren: Lane, Hensley, Luke, Bo, Alex and Daniel; stepchildren: William (Debra) Quist, Julie Hermanson, Debra Quist and Robert (Carmen) Quist; 10 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren.

    Services will be held at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 502 S. Lincoln, Aberdeen, South

Dakota on March 15th, 2024 at 10:00am, Luncheon at the church following. The family encourages you to wear western attire. Graveside service will be at 3:30pm at the Tulare Cemetery. There will be a viewing held at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Aberdeen South Dakota on March 14th, 2024 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm. Family will be present from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a prayer service starting at 7:00.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Aberdeen Lions Club, or Aldersgate Methodist Church, or plant a tree in memory of Lanny.
