Redfield seniors Collin Dean and Jadie Turner were named 2024 Homecoming King and Queen on Mon., Sept. 9th. The candidates, chosen by popular vote, also included Creighton Bowar, Jacob Buranen, Addisyn Evans, Camden Murray, Dylan Murray, Brynnley Neuharth, Brooklyn Rische, and Adalyn Stoner.
Last year’s winners, Chloe Zens and Grady Fey, were center stage for the ceremony. The RHS band, directed by Justin Desens, played a processional, and the National Anthem. Noted alumni present included 25-year royalty alums Lindsay Holm Fuller and Dominic Evans, as well as 50-year royalty alums Nancy Rude and Gerald Nuhsbaumer. Evans gave the alumni speech. In it, he asked alumni, teachers, staff, and various supporters to stand and be recognized. During his speech, he urged the seniors to enjoy every moment. He also encouraged them to be role models for younger students.
Young members of the coronation ceremony included flower girls Adalee McMahon and Emsley Stoner, messengers Creighton Hoots and Lincoln Kopplin, and scroll bearers Skye Melius and Mady Stroud. After last year’s homecoming king and queen read off the names of the 2024 king and queen, they passed on the royal crowns and robes. They then exited the stage, allowing the new king and queen to take over. The new royalty read proclamations stating how the teams were going to bravely face their enemies on the field.
RHS cheerleaders and band were joined by an enthusiastic crowd for the school song and yell. After this, the event moved to the parking lot, where the tradition of lighting the R bonfire was held. The Redfield Fire Department was on hand just in case. The cheerleaders led the crowd in more cheers. The crowd was excited. The king candidates (aside from Dean) were spotted with Burger King crowns on their heads. Overall, it was an evening of many pictures, one not to be soon forgotten by those who were in attendance.
