   Mary Elizabeth O’Daniel, 64, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away at home on Monday, October 3, 2022.

   Mary’s memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. Pastor Melissa Rowenhorst will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Athol, SD. There will be a time of lunch and fellowship following the burial at Leo’s Good Food in Redfield.    On January 16, 1958, Mary was born to John and Katherine “Yvonne” (Galvin) O’Daniel in Redfield. She lived on a farm northwest of Athol and graduated from Northwestern Public High School in Mellette, SD. Mary continued her education at Stewart School of Hair Styling in Aberdeen.

   Mary worked at McDonald’s in Aberdeen as a manager for many years before being hired by Ron Rivett, where she enjoyed working in the Super 8 Corporate Office. Later, she continued working for Ron’s grandson Ryan Rivett of My Place Hotel in Aberdeen.

   She had a love of cooking and baking in her spare time. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She also had a soft spot for animals, including her cat, Jubel. Mary yearned for travel and could be found planning trips to the Black Hills and anywhere that caught her attention.

   Mary is survived by her father, John O’Daniel of Redfield; brothers: Jeff (Kay) O’Daniel of Redfield and Mike (Debbie) O’Daniel of Athol; five nieces and nephews: Heather (Landon) Roach and their children Kyleigh, Lennyx, Alyvia, Phynlee, and Layton; Jason (Tifani) O’Daniel and their children Paige, Deklyn, and Davyna; David (Casi) O’Daniel and their children Kiara and Tristen; Joel (Megan) O’Daniel and their children Beckett and Fiona; and Sara Minnick and her children Savannah, Cassidy, and Legacy.

   Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine “Yvonne” O’Daniel.
