Jerry Lee Wooledge, age 65, of Redfield passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

His funeral service was held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 14, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with burial following at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Gann Valley, SD. After Jerry’s burial there was a time of fellowship held at the Gann Valley Fire Department. His funeral service was live-streamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home website.

A visitation was held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, November 13, at the Kuhler Funeral Home with a time of sharing beginning at 3:30 PM.

Jerry Lee Wooledge was born February 21, 1957, at Wessington Springs, SD, to Burt and Pearl (Kearney) Wooledge. He grew up in Gann Valley, SD.

On June 28, 1975, he married Merrilie Beth Crippen.

He worked for a farmer/rancher for several years, and in 1985 he and his wife moved to Redfield where he worked for the SD Department of Transportation. After a few years they purchased a farm/ranch close to Redfield. They were then blessed with a son, Mark Patrick.

The first task on the “new” farm was to plant trees, and plant trees they did. The first shelter belt was named after Mark. The third shelter belt was named after Maddilynn, Mark’s daughter. Jerry enjoyed working on the farm raising sheep and cattle. Trying to juggle two jobs, working for the state and ranching, proved to be a challenge, but Jerry was up to the task.

He enjoyed an occasional “road trip” touring the beautiful state of South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his son Mark Wooledge, his father Burt and mother Pearl, his sister Alberta Lahti and two brothers, Richard and William.

Survivors are his wife, Merrilie (Crippen) Wooledge; granddaughter Maddilynn Wooledge; daughter-in-law, Shayna Wooledge; and Three sisters, Betty, Mary and Linda; and many nieces and nephews.
