Redfield High School’s junior/senior prom, themed “Masquerade Dreams,” was held on Friday, April 26th. The bleachers at the high school were filled with onlookers, ready to watch the Grand March. Led by student council members, 31 pairs of students circled the auditorium. They made stops at designated places for photos. These spots had backgrounds that were decorated with tinsel, sparkles, and lights. The entrance for the Grand March was painted like a New Orleans-style mask. As the students went around the auditorium, in evenly-spaced pairs, cheers were heard from the audience. Many cellphone photos were snapped.
The students left the gym, then came back wearing disguises. Many also carried young family members with them. All sorts of styles of masks were seen.

After this, the audience was shooed out to give the students some privacy. The prom attendees were seated at specially set tables in the lunch area. They were due for a catered meal. Next would be the dance.
Note: Many proms do not have kings and queens nowadays.
An after-party followed the prom. Door prizes were piled up in a corner. These included boxes containing fridges, futons, and shelves, among other things. Every student who attended the after-party received a door prize.
Nancy Blume explained that students weren’t required to stay for the after-party – but once they left for the night, they could not be re-admitted. She stated that they had a “good attendance rate.” She noted that the senior class consisted of 37 students, and the junior class consisted of 31 students. Considering that about 40 pairs of students attended the prom, the turnout rate was high.
Blume and Tanya Jungwirth served as co-coordinators for the prom. A crew of 16 students were on the decorating committee. Catie K Photography took the official prom pictures. Nick Kopplin served as emcee. Brian and Pam Hall came in to deejay the event. The Grand March was livestreamed. Many other people were involved in making the night a success.
The students were creative, both in their decor for the auditorium, and on themselves. Different styles were seen worn by prom-goers, who all looked sharp, dressed in their best. Lovely dresses overwhelmed the eyes with sparkles. The night offered a way for students to shine.
