In Memory of Steven Roy Tschetter
October 27, 1960 – October 12, 2023
Steven Roy Tschetter was born on October 27, 1960 to Calvin and Jeanette (Hofer) Tschetter in Huron, SD. He was raised on a farm south of Doland, SD. Steve received his education through the 12th grade at Doland Public School. He worked on the family farm during his high school years and for periods of time during his 20s. Steve attended the University of Northwestern in Roseville, MN. He graduated with a certificate in automotive technology from Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, SD.
Steve attended the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of rural Doland and professed his faith in Christ as his Savior at a young age. He was baptized and became a member of the church as a teenager. In recent years became a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Fayetteville, GA.
Steve regarded his 25+ year military service as an honor. He began his career in ‘85, serving 6 years in the Military Police Corp. He was stationed in Germany for 2 years and then in The Presidio of San Francisco. Steve moved to Atlanta in ’93 and joined the US National Guard. He trained as a helicopter mechanic at Ft. Rucker, AL and was employed full time by the Guard working on Blackhawk helicopters. Steve’s Guard Unit was activated during Operation Enduring Freedom, providing support for Army helicopters at Ft. Hood, TX. After serving several years in the Guard, Steve, was honorably discharged.
Being a “people person,” Steve was best remembered for his smile, light-hearted disposition and love for visiting with friends. Drag racing was a favorite hobby in his early years as he perfected his car for that split-second acceleration. Working with his hands brought him joy, starting/operating his own business, Busy Beever Tree Service.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his mother, Jeanette of Sioux Falls, sister, Cindy (Steve) Ver Burg of Hartford, brother, Daryl of Sioux Falls, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 3 great-nieces, a great-nephew. Left also to cherish his memory are his aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Condolences may be sent to Jeanette Tschetter 1409 West Dow Rummel St.Apt #115 Sioux Falls, SD 57104 .
