PIERRE — A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Pierre.

The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 57-year-old male driver of a 2010 Dodge Caravan suffered a seizure and blacked out while driving. The vehicle left the road, striking a pedestrian before crashing into an apartment building. The pedestrian died as a result of their injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

Lane closures planned on Interstate 90 near Brandon

SIOUX FALLS — Starting March 4, westbound and eastbound lane closures are planned on Interstate 90 near Brandon, exit 406. Lane closures, which will be placed as road conditions allow, are scheduled to be in effect from March 4 through March 22.

Motorists should be prepared for delays. Drivers are asked to be aware of workers adjacent to the driving lanes and to slow down through the work zone. The lane closures are necessary for utility relocations in advance of the 2024 Brandon interchange reconstruction project.
