Robert “Bob” W. Hirtzel, age 95, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at his home.

   His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 26, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, with Rev. Larry Regynski officiating. 

   Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church, with family present during that time.

   Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Redfield, South Dakota.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be sent to a charity of your choice.

   Robert W. Hirtzel was born March 14, 1928, to William and Lucy (Neville) Hirtzel, in Redfield, South Dakota. 

He attended school in Redfield and graduated in 1946. After graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1948. He then attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in 1950. He was employed by various construction companies in Minneapolis, Redfield and Huron. Bob formed his own construction company in 1959, and retired in 1993.

   On June 4, 1953, he married Patricia Hansch in Redfield, South Dakota, and they resided in Huron. Bob and Pat had one daughter. Jean and two sons, Steven and Douglas. Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, and was active on several boards and lay person positions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucy; his step-mom, Bethel; his brothers, Rich and Jim; sister, Mary; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Rich); and nieces and nephews.

   Bob is survived by his wife, Pat of Huron; one daughter, Jean Kouch of Huron; two sons, Steven of Custer, South Dakota and Douglas of Fountain Hills, Arizona; one grandson, Adam Kouch of Pembroke Pines, Florida; and one brother, Don (Jean) Hirtzel of Puyallup, Washington.
