   Robert “Bob” Lee Geuther, age 91, of Mt. Vernon, SD died surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 16, 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Plankinton, SD with burial at the Delmont City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel.

   Robert “Bob” Geuther, son of Raymond and Anna (Frey) Geuther, was born April 8, 1932 in Rural Delmont, SD. He grew up and attended Douglas County Public School. After his schooling, Bob returned to help on the family farm. He entered the US Army on September 16, 1952 and was stationed at the Kentucky Base Camp. Bob served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on August 18, 1954. After his discharge, he returned to Delmont, SD where he met his future wife.

   Bob was united in marriage with Patricia Schild on November 5, 1960 in Delmont, SD. The couple made their home in Pierre, while Bob was employed at the Oahe Dam. The couple then moved to Mitchell, SD where Bob was employed at Swanson Heating and Cooling. He then began his 50 year career at Tessier’s Sheet Metal, retiring in 2009.

   He was a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local #10 and the Mt. Vernon American Legion.

   In his younger years, Bob enjoyed fishing, goose hunting, gardening and especially farming.

   Grateful for having shared his life are his three daughters, Julia (Kevin) Johnsen, Redfield, SD, Collette (Ron) Briggs, Plankinton, SD, Eva (Alan) Schroeder, Mt. Vernon, SD; his grandchildren, Amber (Will) Traube, Nick Briggs, Jeff (Natalie) Briggs, Roman (Amanda) Briggs, Josalyn Schroeder, and Wyatt Schroeder; his great grandchildren, Alastair, Isaiah, Ophelia, Katlyn (Chris), Carter, Isabella; a brother, Jerry Geuther, Delmont, SD.

   He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Geuther; his parents; sisters, Ilene (Wallace) Peters, Arles Geuther; brothers, Lloyd Geuther, Raymond Geuther Jr., Sidney Geuther; a grandson, Jeremy Johnsen and a granddaughter-in-law, Kimberly Briggs.
