BROOKINGS — On May 31, Prairie Docs — Dr. Andrew Ellsworth, Dr. Jill Kruse, Dr. Kelly Evans-Hullinger and Dr. Debra Johnston — were awarded the Community Service Award from the South Dakota State Medical Association for their outstanding work in the area of community affairs.

Healing Words Foundation/Prairie Doc Programming Board President Joanie Holm, RN, accepted the award on their behalf at the ceremony in Rapid City as part of the annual conference.

Ellsworth, Kruse, Evans-Hullinger, and Johnston serve as host/educators each week for the medical education show, On Call with the Prairie Doc, on SDPB, Facebook live and YouTube. The show is starting its 23rd season providing health education, which includes live viewer questions at no cost, answered by medical professionals from all over the state.
