NEWELL — A 56-year-old woman died Sept. 3 from injuries sustained Aug. 8 in a single-vehicle crash near Newell.
The name of the woman involved has not been released pending notification of her family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates that, on Aug. 8, the woman was driving a 2001 Harley Davidson and was traveling southbound on state Highway 79 near mile marker 157 when her motorcycle drifted off the road to the right and struck a delineator pole, coming to rest in the west ditch. She was not wearing a helmet. She was taken to a Rapid City hospital with life-threatening injuries, and died on Sept. 3.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
