James River Water Development District assists Redfield with $50,000 for water project

During the November 2019 meeting of the James River Water Development District, a request was made for project assistance in the amount of $50,000 by the city of Redfield. The funds are to be put towards engineering fees to make improvements to the local drinking water system. The project will provide reliable drinking water to the residents of Redfield. According to Redfield city representatives, the current drinking water system is constructed of materials that are over 100 years old, and the system is starting to fail. The city had several breaks in the water lines during 2019.
The total cost of the drinking water project is $9,944,639. Engineering is estimated to cost $907,000.
In the January 15, 2020 meeting of the James River Water Development District, Redfield’s request obtained approval.
Motion was made by Director R.Braun and seconded by Director Stanley to authorize cost-share assistance up to a maximum of $50,000, not to exceed 50% of the total engineering costs, to the Town of Redfield.
