Hope Louise Leinen, 71, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Her memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD, with Pastor Joy Proper officiating. Lunch and fellowship will follow at Leo’s Good Food in Redfield.
Hope was born on June 1, 1953, in Bismarck, ND, to Theophile and Esther (Schultz) Doyen. She lived in Hazen, ND, Mitchell, SD, and Redfield, SD, and graduated from Redfield High School. She was married to Tom Leinen and despite their divorce, Hope remained friends with his family.

She moved frequently, working as an executive secretary, then in marketing for a hotel in Vegas until she started working as a leasing agent for large apartment complexes. She excelled in this career and continued leasing until she moved to Aberdeen to continue her life, with her partner Steve Thomas, until her death.
Hope is survived by her loving partner Steve Thomas of Aberdeen; her sister Lois Vanderfeen of Sioux Falls, SD; her nephews and nieces: Jay Vanderfeen of Watertown, SD, Amber Kennedy of Albuquerque, NM, James Vanderfeen of Watertown, SD, Amanda Vanderfeen of Sioux Falls, SD, and Michael Vanderfeen of Rapid City, SD. She is also survived by her great-nephew Jaz Kennedy, and several other great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Theophile and Esther Doyen, and her brother James Doyen.
