Hjalmer passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Louisville, on November 12th, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and daughter Kim Laura Haaland Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 69 years, Laura N. Haaland, sons Larry (Sheila) Haaland and Perry (Pam Timmons) Haaland. Grandchildren Nathaniel (Tanja) Haaland, Nicole (Vaughn) Zepp, Lonnie Haaland, Laura Miller-McDonald (Bob McDonald), Chris (Melissa) Miller, Melissa (Ricky) Cole, Wren (Tim Everson) Haaland, Grace Haaland, and Anders Haaland. Great-grandchildren Timothy Zepp, Aiden Kearney, Evan Haaland, Ella Kearney, Ashden Kearney, Camden Haaland, Kale Haaland, Mylo McDonald, Rylan Cole, Sophia Haaland, Nathaniel Miller, Solomon Cole, Isabelle Haaland, Liam Haaland, Hannah Miller, and Moses Cole along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Hjalmer will take place on Thursday, November 15 at 1 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 9212 Taylorsville Road. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 14 from 2-8 PM at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Inurnment will take place in South Dakota at a later date.
