   Glenda Hofer, 87, longtime resident of Redfield, SD recently of Sioux Falls, SD. Passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Good Samaritan Village.

   Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Monday, March 4, at Grace and Truth Ministries, 3812 N. Cliff Ave., Sioux Falls, SD with the family present to greet friends one hour prior.

   Graveside Service will be 3:00 pm Monday, March 4 at Prairie Bible Church Cemetery, rural Carpenter, SD.

   Glenda Christiann Wipf, daughter of Sam and Mary Wipf, born August 21, 1936 in Huron, SD.  Her mother passed away when Glenda was five years old.  She grew up with family members in the area.

   She married Richard Hofer on July 3, 1953 in Huron, SD.  They were blessed with six children, Randy, Terry, LaJean, Sharla, Dylan, Steven.  They later separated, and Glenda and the children moved to Tulare, SD.  She worked at the Redfield Community Hospital.  

   In 1972, they moved to Redfield, SD where she worked for the Redfield State Hospital and School.  She worked as a cook and eventually worked as a Dorm Parent for many years until her retirement in 1998.

   Following her retirement, she enjoyed going every day to the Senior Center for lunch and visiting with friends.  She moved to Sioux Falls in 2021 to be closer to family members.  Glenda soon entered Good Samaritan Village where she has lived for the past three years.

   Glenda enjoyed and was content living a simpler life.  She loved her family and especially the grandchildren.  She enjoyed every photo she got from them. She was a strong woman and never complained.

   She was a huge Alan Jackson Fan and absolutely loved the color, Blue.  She collected dolls and clocks.

   Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Randy (Ginny) Hofer, Sioux Falls, SD, Terry (Kay) Hofer, Spearfish, SD, LaJean (Ernie) Schmeiser, Glidden, IA, Sharla (Mike) Bakeberg, Sioux Falls, SD, Dylan Hofer, Fort Wayne, IN, Steven Hofer, Piedmont, SD; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; half-sister, Charlotte Duresky; two half-brothers, Leonard Wipf and Walter Wipf; step-brother, Norman Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond Wipf and James Wipf; two step-brothers, Lyman Nelson and Ronald Nelson.
