DQ Reopened after Update

Redfield Dairy Queen reopened on Sat., Jan. 23rd, after the completion of an interior remodel. “We are ready to roll.” owner Jill Tomsha said. In mid-Dec., the store went to drive-thru only. After New Year’s, the store was fully closed. While they lacked customers, they were still busy.

“It was a lot.” Tomsha said in regard to the work done. She said that she was happy that customers “kept asking when we were going to reopen.” This showed that the business was important to the community.

Tomsha bought the Dairy Queen from her father in 2013. He had bought it in 1984. “I grew up around Dairy Queen.” she said. It was time for an update. The patio area had already had some work done to it. This recent remodel included: new booths, tables, and chairs; a new pop dispenser; spoon-shaped door handles; backroom cabinets; new ceiling lights; tiles; wall décor; partial walls; and work on the bathrooms. Pictures of the Dairy Queen buildings throughout the years can still be found on the wall.
