On Tuesday, March 19, Redfield’s agricultural businesses and families interacted with the future of Ag by spending National Ag Day at the Redfield School.  This year’s theme was “Agriculture: Food for Life.”
 Members of the local Young Farmers and Ranchers group read Ag-related books and did projects with students in Preschool through 5th grade. Simon and Heidi Appel, Amanda Evans, Lance and Keri Schade, Bryce and Kayla Maher, Wes Frankenstein, Joey and Lindsey Haskell, Josh Hilbrands, Bekah Ihnen, Rachel Osvog, Michelle Binger, and Dennis and Traci Clemens all spent time with the youth.
Brenda Forman from the South Dakota Association of Cooperatives spoke to grades 6-12 about being involved in agriculture without actively farming, getting involved in Pierre, and the fact that they are already lobbyists asking for new shoes, new activities, and longer curfews.
Local businesses Precision Soil Management, Agtegra, Blume Seeds, Farm Bureau agent Garrett Smith, the State and District Farm Bureau Agencies, RDO Equipment, Wilbur Ellis, Leo’s Good Food, Redfield Food Center, Farm Credit, and Redfield Energy provided lunch to all students and staff.
