Princesses happily wandered through Redfield School on Sat., Feb. 15th, for a “Meet the Queens” event. Youth of elementary school age and younger were invited to the event, which was hosted by FCCLA. Around 50 kids, most in sparkling princess dresses, were in attendance. Several parents stayed as well.
Five crowned queens were on hand to meet the kids, and to help lead the festivities. They included Redfield’s Junior and Senior Snow Queens; Redfield’s Homecoming Queen and Snow Queen First-Runner-Up; Miss Hub City Teen; and Miss South Dakota Teen USA. Many photo ops were taken advantage of.
Stations were set up throughout the cafeteria area. These included: Meet the Queens (photo op), Bingo, Bead Jewelry, Nail Painting, Wand Decorating, Crown Decorating, Pin the Crown on the Princess, Cookie Decorating, Freeze Dance, and Color a Get-Well Card for Leo.
The event was put together to raise proceeds for the family of 1st Grade teacher Cassie Boomsma, whose young son recently had heart surgery. About $800 was raised.
