Three more cases of COVID in Spink County, overall cases continue to drop in SD

Since Thursday, June 18th, three more active cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Spink County by the SD Department of Health. Spink County has had eight total cases of the virus, five of which have successfully recovered. Over Father’s Day weekend, 90 Spink County residents were tested for the virus.

In neighboring Beadle County, 108 active cases of the virus were recorded on Monday morning, June 22nd, before 11a.m. Overall, Beadle has had 494 cases of the virus, 387 of which have recovered as of Monday, and six deaths.

Twenty-one active cases were recorded Monday morning in Brown County. Brown has had 326 cases overall as of Monday, 303 of which have recovered, and two deaths. Brown is seeing cases markedly decreasing.

Statewide, the number of active cases of COVID-19 continues to drop. On Monday, June 15th, the Department of Health reported 30 new confirmed cases and 62 new recoveries, lowering the active cases to 892. On Monday morning, June 22nd, before 11 a.m., the Department of Health reported 827 active cases, a drop of 65 since the previous Monday, and 808 active cases after the 11:30a.m. update (a drop of 84).

As of Monday morning, the state has had 6,326 confirmed cases, 67,003 confirmed negative cases and 81 deaths due to COVID-19. A total of 5,437 people who have contracted the virus have recovered and 88 are currently hospitalized.
