Rose Mary Bush was born April 23, 1931, to Royce and Olga (Monnington) Bush in St. Lawrence, SD.  She attended school in St. Lawrence and graduated from high school in 1949.

She taught rural school in Hand County for two years.  During this time, she attended many dances with her sisters where she soon found the love of her life on the dance floor.  Music and dance remained a large part of her life and that of her accordion-playing suitor.

She married Joseph Nuhsbaumer on September 3, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Zell, South Dakota.  They were blessed with nearly 68 years of marriage and seven children.

They lived on their farm in Plato Township in the house that Joe was born in until 1995 when they moved ½ mile north to where Joe’s father originally homesteaded.

Rose loved her family, her faith, the farm, and her friends.  She was an avid spectator at activities and events particularly when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated. She enjoyed attending Quilt Guild and making Christmas ornaments and bookmarks for family and friends.  She loved gardening as well as watching birds and wildlife. She also enjoyed watching old westerns on TV and cheered vigorously anytime the Minnesota Twins played!  She was a fierce competitor and enjoyed beating her husband, children and grandchildren at card games.

She is survived by her husband, Joe and their seven children: Sandy (Daryl) Schmidt of Rockham; Jo Ann Robinson of Redfield; Bob (Cindy) Nuhsbaumer of Zell; Steve (Amy) Nuhsbaumer of Zell; Brenda (Jim) Kranz of Redfield; Sheila (Kevin) Bruscher of Mitchell, and Jeanette (Tim) Weisz of Aberdeen; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister June Ehrich, Zell; stepbrother Gerald (LaVerta) Palmer, Miller; sisters-in-law:  Frances Bush, Victorville, CA; Helen Bush, Tacoma, WA; Ila Mae Bush, Redfield; brother-in-law Don Schade, Redfield; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, O.G. Palmer; an infant brother; six brothers: Jim, Don, Royce “Junior”, Keith, Lyman “Skip” and Sidney; two sisters: Inez Schade and Betty Schaffer; three step-sisters: Fern, Ruby and Freda; six step brothers: Omar, Vernon, Loren, Nova, John and Ken; son-in-law: Dale “Buck” Robinson; one infant grandchild, Bryant Bruscher; two infant great-grandchildren: Finnley and Waylon Gruenwald; and several loved sisters- and brothers-in-law.
