age 87, of Sidney, NE
passed away in Bridgeport,
NE on Saturday,
April 30 2022.
Graveside memorial
services will be held at
11:00 A.M. on Saturday,
June 11, 2022 at the
Greenwood Cemetery in
Sidney. Memorials can
be left to Legion Park
War Memorial c/o VFW
and the Alzheimer’s Association.

is in charge of Bob’s care
and funeral arrangements.
Bob was born in Redfield
SD to Robert and
Emma Van Vleet and was
raised on the family farm
along with his siblings,
Laura, Clifford,Dolores,
Donny and Charles.
In 1955 Bob married
Vera Stoltz and to this
union 5 children were
born. They eventually
settled in Sidney NE.
Bob was proud to
serve in the Air Force
and on the Sidney City
Council as a councilman
and as Mayor. He was
especially proud of his
work on the Legion Park
War Memorial.
A brilliant quick mind
led Bob down an extraordinary
path that included
owning and operating
many varied businesses
and securing 7 US patents
for products that are still
being manufactured in
Sidney today.
Bob was preceded in
death by his parents, his
wife and business partner
of 59 years Vera, brothers
Clifford and Donald,
sisters Laura Johnson and
Dolores Becker, sonin-
law Gordon Carey,
niece Sharol Johnson and
nephews Steve Van Vleet
and David Van Vleet.
He is survived by
his brother Charles and
wife Marge Van Vleet,
sister in law Marilyn Van
Vleet, brother-in-law Leo
Stoltz and wife Linda, his
children, Sam, Rob and
wife Carolyn, Dan and
wife Lori, Kelly Carey,
and Stacy Beeken and
husband Keven, grand
children, Nikki and husband
Jake, Robbie Van
Vleet and wife Elizabeth,
Chuck Van Vleet, Ben
Carey, Kate Norris and
husband Josh, Franki
Beeken and Emma Beeken,
great grandchildren,
Genson, Carson and Madison
Carey and Charlie Jo
Van Vleet and numerous
nieces and nephews.
