Relay for Life celebrates “More Birthdays”
By Shiloh Appel
The annual Spink County Relay for Life this year went very well according to coordinator, LeAnn Wasmoen. Approximately 200 people attended the event, which was again held in the 4-H building on the Spink County Fairgrounds. As of Monday, July 22nd, Wasmoen said the Relay for Life team was very close to their goal of raising $40,000, but not all of the funds raised had yet been counted.
During the ceremonies, Honorary Chairs, Eileen Kearney and Karen Stephenson each gave a speech to those in attendance. In addition, the Relay for Life “Cheer Camp” team had about 25 participants who did cheers about the relay, incorporating the relay’s theme, “More Birthdays.”
The next annual Relay for Life in Redfield is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June13th, 2020.
