During the 2020 USA Ambassador Pageant held in Canton, South Dakota at the Canton Performing Arts Center held February 21-February 23rd, Hannah Owens, of Redfield, was bestowed with the title of Miss South Dakota. Murphy Lewis, of Redfield, was crowned as the SD SLICC II (Success in Leadership, Integrity, Character and Confidence) Ambassador, and Luann Miner, of Redfield, earned the title of Miss Congeniality.

During the 2020 USA Ambassador Pageant held in Canton, South Dakota at the Canton Performing Arts Center held February 21-February 23rd, Hannah Owens, of Redfield, was bestowed with the title of Miss South Dakota. Murphy Lewis, of Redfield, was crowned as the SD SLICC II (Success in Leadership, Integrity, Character and Confidence) Ambassador, and Luann Miner, of Redfield, earned the title of Miss Congeniality.
Owens, Lewis and Miner will go on to compete in the USA Ambassador National Pageant in Florida this summer.
“What I enjoyed most about the experience was seeing how empowered these women, young and old, feel with or without makeup,” said Owens, who was a first-time competitor at the pageant this year. “When you get all glammed up, you get that little boost of confidence. That is why I am going into cosmetic chemistry. I like helping people feel empowered to do what they want. So, just in that aspect, I think my favorite part was being backstage and seeing the look in their eye when they are getting their hair done or getting their make-up done. Just this look of confidence. This look of empowerment. This look of contentedness. I don’t know how to explain it. It gives me hope for future years, for sure.”
