Redfield Driving License Exam Station Closing Permanently

Posted

PIERRE, S.D. – Redfield’s Driving License exam station will close permanently next Thursday, Aug 24.

Driving License officials say the exam station will be open for the final time, from 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 23. The station, which is open twice a month, is located in the state Department of Transportation building on north Highway 281.

The Redfield station has experienced low customer usage in recent years. Driving License officials say there is also a need to re-assign the examiners to areas where there is a greater need for service.

Redfield area residents can renew their driver’s license online at www.dps.sd.gov or can contact the Driving License’s Pierre office at 605-773-6883 to request a packet so that their license can be renewed  by mail. To renew online or by mail, the applicant will need to provide copies of two pieces of mail (received within the last year) that include the person’s name. Applicants 65 years old or older will need to provide a vision statement from an exam given within the last six months.

For those applicants who prefer to visit an exam station, locations and times can be found on the Driver Licensing website at www.dps.sd.gov or by calling 605-773-6883.

The Driving License office is part of the South Department of Public Safety.
