Mavis Janet (Klug) Brink, 81, of Tucson, AZ, and formerly of Redfield, SD, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the Center of Tucson.  Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Redfield.  Reverend Brian Wasmoen will officiate.  Following a time for lunch and fellowship, inurnment will take place at the Tulare Cemetery in Tulare, SD.

Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m., at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield.  Family will be present during this time to accept condolences.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home. (www.hykefuneralhome.com).

Mavis Janet Klug was born on June 30, 1938, to Elmer and Irene (Meier) Klug of Hitchcock, SD.  She was the oldest child of four.  She attended school in Hitchcock and Redfield, SD.  Mavis graduated from Redfield High School in 1957 and went on to work at Severson Drug as a clerk.   On March 16, 1958, she married Harold Brink and they resided at the family farm five miles east of Redfield.

She was an intricate part of the farm, cooking and cleaning not only for her family but also for their many hired men over the years.  Many a time, she would prepare and deliver meals to fields as well as the cattle drive home from the Bald Mountains every year.  She attended many cattle related functions with her family and was an active member of the South Dakota Charolais Women’s Auxiliary.

Mavis was also a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was active with the church ladies circle.  Harold and Mavis wintered in Tucson, AZ prior to 1999.  On October 12, 1999, Mavis lost the love of her life, Harold, after a five-year struggle with COPD.  Since then Mavis and son Scott have made many trips back to Tucson.  When she wasn’t busy running the household and raising her children, she enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, plastic canvas and baking.

She is survived by her son, Scott of Tucson, AZ; two daughters: Ellen Kay (Vince) Marshall and Sue Ann Hayes both of Redfield, SD; five grandchildren: Barret (Kristin) Marshall, Arlington, SD; Holly (JP) Heber,  Wessington Springs, SD; Candice (Brandan) Gilpin, St. Joseph, MO; Allison Hayes, Redfield, SD; and Robert Hayes, Aberdeen, SD; 11 great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Emery Marshall, Arlington; Haven, Harley, Herby and Harlan Heber, Wessington Springs, SD; Michael and Reagan Gilpin, St. Joseph, MO; Edward Artz, Phoenix, AZ; Lydia Hayes, Redfield, SD; and Logan Hayes, Aberdeen, SD.  She is also survived by her sister Koreen (Wayne) Hewitt, Tucson, AZ.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; and siblings: Leland “Pee Wee” Klug on August 7, 2019, and Stanley Klug.
