Marion Frances Koeck was born on April 13, 1928, to John and Mathilda (Schaefers) Koeck near Ree Heights, SD.  She was the second of six children.  Marion attended country school near Ree Heights and later school in Miller, SD.

Marion came to work as a housekeeper/nanny for John Roeber, a widower with five small children.  A year later, on June 16, 1965, they were married and added five more children to their union.

Marion and her husband lived on a farm SW of Redfield for many years.  She spent most of her adult life raising her ten children.  Summertime weekends were always spent at the cabin at Cottonwood Lake.  Marion was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where she and her husband were very active with the Knights of Columbus.  A special award they received at the state KC convention was the “Family of the Year” award.  She was also a member of the Tulare Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters.  After their retirement, John and Marion moved to Redfield and traveled to Arizona during the winters.  One memorable trip they took was to Rome.  She enjoyed going to daily mass and praying the Rosary.

She is survived by nine of her ten children:  Barbara (Jack) Belkham of Sioux Falls, SD; Robert Roeber of Redfield, SD; Brenda (Richard) O’Brien of Valley City, ND; Cynthia (Dan) Thomas of Tulare, SD; Brian (Karen) Roeber of Apple Valley, CA; Jeffrey (Robbin) Roeber of West Fargo, ND; Mary (Darin) Binger of Tulare, SD; Jennifer (Scott) Burrows of Brandon, MN; Julie (Rick) Olthoff of Wahpeton, ND; and daughter-in-law Mary Roeber of West Bend, WI.  She has 36 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by one sister, Celesta Martinmaas of Reno, NV; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death earlier this year by a son, Michael Roeber.  Also preceding her in death was her husband, parents, and siblings:  Donald, Francis, Gayle, and Carolyn.
