Lorry Llewellen Buchholz, 81, of Redfield, SD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, surrounded by his loved ones. Lorry was born in Redfield, SD to Milton and Barbara (Bancroft) Buchholz and was the eldest of four children. Lorry attended country school and later graduated from Redfield High School in 1958. In 1959, Lorry married Eileen Badger, and from their union three children were born: Sharla, Kristi, and Debbie. July 23, 1979, Lorry married Kristi (Arthurs) Buchholz and blended his family with three stepdaughters: Kea, Shawn, and Kalena.

Lorry worked for Spink County Co-Op, and then Spink County Electric as a journeyman/lineman for 41 years and finished his retirement at Northern Electric. Lorry loved his career choice and made many friendships throughout his years, both colleagues and customers. After retirement, Lorry and Kristi enjoyed their hobby farm. You could find Lorry out on the farm with his beloved dogs, Chi Chi and Sue, and his horses Faz and Tommy.

Lorry loved to hunt and fish. Every weekend, he and Kristi loaded up and headed to the river to meet up with their friends to fish. Lorry had a special place in his heart for his grand-children and great grandchildren. Papa was always sneaking treats and hugs.

Blessed for having shared in Lorry’s life are his loving wife, Kristi Buchholz of Redfield, his loving daughters and stepdaughters; Sharla (Blake) Duerre, Kristi (Jim) Martin, Deborah Esser, Kea (Chad Lee) Wager, Shawn (Jami) Groft, and Kalena (Travis) Fast. Lorry was a loving grandfather and papa to 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, soon to be 10.

Lorry is survived by his sister, Lynda Wink, brother-in-law Gordon Schroeder, and brother Kevin (Mary) Buchholz.

Lorry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother-in-law, and in-laws.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Spink County Fairgrounds, Monday, September 26, 2022, at 11:00am. Lunch will be served following the celebration.
