Local teen sustains life-threatening injuries in November 2nd crash

A local teenager received life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle crash Saturday night, November 2nd, in Spink County.
A 15-year-old boy from Redfield was driving a 1999 GMC truck on 174th Street two miles west of Redfield when it went into a cornfield and rolled onto its top, according to information from Tony Mangan, spokesman for the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. The crash was reported at 10:33 p.m. Saturday.
The teen was ejected from the vehicle and had life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt. He was first taken to Redfield Community Memorial Hospital and then taken to Sioux Falls. Charges are pending and the South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
