Leota Jackson, 82, Rockham, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Faulkton Senior Living.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Zell, with Fr. Thomas Anderson presiding. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton.   Burial will be 11:30 a.m. MST, Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.
Leota Mary Stemper was born March 29, 1936 in Zell, SD to Peter and Anna (Jandel) Stemper. She attended school and graduated from Redfield High School in 1953.
On February 25, 1954 Leota was married to Clifford Jackson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Zell. They made their home at the family farm near Rockham.

Leota worked side by side with Clifford on the family farm. They raised livestock and chickens, gathered eggs and farmed the land. They farmed their entire married life near Rockham where they raised their three girls.
Leota was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Zell where she taught catechism and was a member of the altar society. She enjoyed spending time bowling, square dancing, going out to eat, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Leota is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clifford; her three daughters: Patricia (the late Lance) Olen of Wecota, Debra (Terry) Rohlfs of Wolsey, and Jean Jackson of Aurora, CO; five grandchildren: Mark Olen, Angela (Benjamin) Grams, Lori (Cody) Bruns, Steve Rohlfs, and Christine (Brad) Saltsman; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Marge Aanenson of Glendale, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Lance Olen; two brothers: Cletus and Vitalis (Joy) Stemper.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Leota’s arrangements.
