Kristine Booze was born on December 14, 1974, at Darnall US Army Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas to David and Patty Booze.

Surrounded by her family and special friend, Kristine passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022, after a long battle with an illness. She was 47 years old.

Kristine had many adventures moving around the world wherever her father was stationed with the tour of duty in the military serving his country. Residing in Virginia and then moving back to South Dakota while her father was serving a tour in Korea. While in South Dakota Kristine enjoyed spending time with her maternal grandparents, Florence and Orlando Opstedahl. After her father returned from Korea the family joined him in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was here that Kristine found her love for fishing and camping in the outdoors. After a short time, her father was reassigned to St. Louis, Missouri and Kristine began her grade school education and also found her love for soccer. In St. Louis, Kristine joined the YMCA, and her parents were her first coaches. Then after that tour of duty her father was reassigned to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where she continued her education and found her love for basketball along with soccer.

In June of 1984, Kristine, Patty and her brother, Jeff returned to Black Hawk, South Dakota and stayed for a year while her father served a tour of duty in Germany. They then moved to Germany where Kristine continued her love for soccer, basketball and her new love for softball. This would also start her interest in vineyards and growing grapes, also with new adventures in skiing and exploring ancient castles and architectural structures. This would later in life, be her love and passion. When the tour of duty was over the family was reassigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Kristine continued her education and her love for basketball and softball. Kristine found a new love for music, and she started playing the trumpet. Her father was then reassigned to Fort Irwin, California, Kristine continued her education at Silver Valley High School and her love for basketball and softball continued. Well attending Silver Valley High School, she participated in basketball camps and traveled to different states for basketball. All of her hard work and dedication earned Kristine a basketball scholarship at Savannah, Georgia.

In Kristine’s senior year she graduated with top honors as co-valedictorian of her class. After graduation she started a new adventure in Savannah at Savannah School of Arts and Design (SCAD). Here Kristine continued her love for basketball, soccer and softball while representing the college. She earned a master’s degree in Architecture Design. Kristine continued her education in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she earned a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture Design.

In 2006, Kristine moved back home to Black Hawk, where she established Red Valley Vineyard with her parents. With all of her education she was able to develop the property to provide the community with produce.

Kristine enjoyed the outdoors and working in the gardens and vineyard. She will be greatly missed by her mother, Patty Booze; father, David Booze; brother, Jeffery Booze; grandmother, Inez Booze; uncles, Danney Booze, Kenny Booze, Eddie Opstedahl; and many aunties, cousins, nephews, nieces, and special friends.
