   Heaven gained a new shepherd Sunday, September 18, 2022. Jerry Lee Bachman, age 71, passed peacefully in his sleep at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, South Dakota after many years of struggling with health issues.     Following two bouts of cancer, multiple cardiac events along with other issues, he was sick and tired of being sick and tired. 

   Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 10 am at Rose Hill Cemetery of rural Clark with Pastor Keith Kraft officiating.

   Jerry was born February 17, 1951 in Watertown, South Dakota to Leo and Velma (Heiden) Bachman.  He was raised and farmed on the family farm north of Clark for 50 years.  He graduated from Clark High School in 1970.  He worked at Whiskey River Feed Lot, spent many years working with Larry Caster, DVM and the McCain Potato Plant in Clark before retiring from farming in 2004.  Jerry was known for taking better care of his animals than he did himself. Jerry won purple ribbons throughout his life for many garden entries in the county and state fairs.  He was a member of FFA, Redfield Masonic Order and the Yelduz Shrine in Aberdeen.  Jerry enjoyed watching and supporting his grandkids at their many sporting events, dance recitals and chorus presentations.  He met and married his wife, Cyndi in the fall of 2002.  They moved to the Zell/Redfield area in 2004.

   Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Velma Bachman, a brother, Leland, and multiple aunts and uncles.  

   He is survived by his wife Cyndi (Benning) Bachman of Redfield, his sister Karyl (Jim) Sommers of Watertown, two step-children, Amy (Jayme) Akin and Brian McFadden of Redfield, Eight grand children, Cameron, Mackenzie, Brandon, Zachary, Hailey, Kyleigh, Scott and Isaiah, along with two great grandchildren, Hazel and Lukas.  

   Furness Funeral Home of Clark is handling arrangements for the family.
