Hitchcock-Tulare Senior Named Scholar of the Week
Tulare, SD Hitchcock-Tulare High School senior Baylee Enander has been named the Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week for the week of December 4. Enander has a 4.07-grade point average and participates in several extracurricular activities including volleyball, basketball, track, FFA, student council, FCCLA, and the science quiz bowl team.
“It’s pretty exciting,” Enander said about being named the Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week. “I was shocked and surprised, yet honored to be chosen.”
Enander received $100 from Northern Electric Cooperative for being named the Scholar of the Week. The Hitchcock-Tulare senior will also be featured during the 6:00 p.m. Scholar of the Week segment on KSFY Television on Monday, December 4.
Enander plans to pursue a special education degree at the University of South Dakota and hopes to work at a school or become a behavioral specialist.
Enander is one of nearly three dozen students who will be honored as the Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week during the 2017-2018 school year. All of the students selected for the honor have the opportunity to be awarded a $1,000 or $500 scholarship during the annual Scholar of the Year banquet which is held in the spring.
The Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week program has been celebrating the achievements of high school seniors throughout the region since 2002. Recipients are highly motivated high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community. The program is supported by the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives in eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota in partnership with KSFY Television.
