Keith was born October 5, 1934, to Ernest and Louise (Becker) Hardie at the Redfield Baldwin Hospital. He was the third of four sons and attended Franz Country School, a half a mile east of the farm.
In 1954, Keith married Juan Mc Carty and from 1957 to 1959, he served in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. Their son, Bob, was born in 1958 at the Army Hospital. From 1959 to 2012, Keith and his brother Jerry, along with their dad, farmed and raised livestock on their farm in Redfield. Keith and Juan’s second son, Gregory, was born in 1963 at the Redfield Hospital.
Life was spent farming and playing baseball and slow-pitch for Zell and Redfield, all of which he enjoyed. He was on the Exline Township Board for many years. Juan died of cancer in July 1976. In 1980, Keith married Colleen (Michels) Jungwirth and her four children are Laurie, Joe, Jeff, and Angie. Keith and Colleen traveled to Las Vegas several times and to many states, visiting their kids and families. Their vacations included attending high school and college sporting events and graduations of the grandchildren. Keith and Colleen both enjoyed playing cards (pinochle, whist, bridge, pitch) and hosted many gatherings of friends and family through the years. The time he spent at Chrystal’s and Appel Oil with his friends was a special favorite for him.
He is survived by his sons, Bob (married to Colleen Donohue) and Greg Hardie, and his two children, Jacob and JoAnna Hardie. He is also survived by his step-children: Laurie, married to Steve Duncan and their children: Travis and Tyler Duncan; Joe, married to Karen Lawrence and their children; Justin and Briana Jungwirth; Jeff Jungwirth and his children: Chris and Amanda Jungwirth; and Angie Lambert, and her daughter, Alana Lambert. He has one great-grandson, Freddie Tomlinson (Briana Jungwirth)
Keith was preceded in death by his wives: Juan in 1976, and Colleen in January of 2022.
