My name is Frank Krumm and I would like to introduce myself as a candidate for Spink County Sheriff.
I was married for 30 years to his best friend Sue, who recently passed away. Together we have four children, Kenneth Reed, Michelle Fortin, Kelli Stroud and Kevin Krumm, and seven grandchildren.
I grew up in the Aberdeen area, graduating in 1983. In 1986, I joined the South Dakota Highway Patrol. I was stationed in Clark, SD until 1995 when I was transferred to Redfield, where I currently reside. I served as Assistant Squad Leader for six years and was promoted to Squad Sergeant in 2009. During this time I supervised six Highway Patrol Officers, directing and overseeing their day to day activities, and was leading by example.
I retired from the Highway patrol in 2014 at which time I became a part-time Deputy Sheriff for Spink County and was appointed Spink County Deputy Coroner. I was employed part-time by the US Postal Service in Redfield in 2014 and currently work full time for Jensen Electric in Redfield.
I believe in fair and impartial law enforcement with a common-sense approach and sound decision making based on 28 years of law enforcement experience. I believe in serving my community by re-establishing education for our children and the community on Drugs and Safety. I take a proactive approach to recognizing and resolving problems and seeking their underlying causes to make our community safe.
I have maintained my certification as a Law Enforcement Officer through the state of South Dakota. I attended the required 12 weeks of classroom training and 10 weeks of field training for the SD Highway Patrol. I am certified as a Radar Instructor, Forensic Mapper, and Crash Data Retrieval Technician. I have also attended state sponsored Supervisors courses where I continue to reinforce my leadership qualities with:
I was honored as Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2008 by the American Legion 40/8 Club, and Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2012 by the American Legion Club.
I thoroughly enjoy giving back to my community by being involved in organizing youth baseball and basketball tournaments and coaching youth softball, baseball and basketball. I also enjoy being an umpire and referee for the Redfield Parks and Rec Department. I actively assist the Legion Baseball team announcing the home games and tournament games along with high school baseball games for the past couple years.
I am a member of the local Fraternal Order of Police and have served as President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer as well as the Scholarship Committee since 1995. I am a member of the Knights of Columbus.
I would appreciate your vote on June 5th for Spink County Sheriff.
