Five week craft camp comes to an end
Over the past five weeks Glenda McNutt of Just Beecuz Floral & Gifts, in Doland, hosted an arts and crafts camp (for the third year) for area kids from ages 4 to 14. Each Wednesday, 12 kids met at the shop for about an hour to put together different craft projects. This year with the new flower shop the kids had their own room to do all the activities; as Glenda was drawing and planning her new shop she kept her make and takes classes in mind. It is nice to have a climate control room to do fun events.  This is a fun activity that the kids enjoy coming to, not only do they get to see their friends they also learn and have fun doing it. The first week they did string art, this activity was teaching kids how to make patterns and was probably the most difficult activity.  Over the weeks, they made owl succulent planters, tea cup bird feeders, coat hangers and lighted jar aquariums.  The jar aquariums were voted by the kids as their funnest project, they loved seeing them come to life. All through the six weeks the kids had to share, help one another, learn patience and use their manners.  And once again, a few of the girls took their projects to 4-H achievement days.

Glenda would like to thank all those that participated in the camps this year and hopes to see you again next year. Also, she’d like to thank the few parents, grandparents and her son Jamez that gave her a helping hand during the camps.  Being a florist you never know what your day may bring, with just a simple ring of the phone your plans could be changed due to a funeral and we have had plenty of those the past few weeks.
