Douglas A. Harvey, age 72, of Clark, SD passed away peacefully with his loving sister at his side on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Avantara – Clark Nursing Home, in Clark SD. Doug’s wishes were for no formal services to be held. Burial will take place in the Doland Cemetery. Hyke Funeral Home of Redfield has been entrusted with arrangements. (www.hykefuneralhome.com)
Doug was born on November 29, 1949, to Maxwell and Jean (Hoffman) Harvey in Redfield. He grew up with his sister Charlotte and graduated from Doland High School in 1968. He was drafted into the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged two years later. He moved to back to Doland for about year, before moving to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota area and began making cabinets for Holedahl for about ten years.
On September 21, 1973, Doug married Barb Hostetler and to this union three children were born. Doug eventually moved to Clark, SD and worked for McCain Potato Company along with helping several farmers. Doug will always be remembered for his very good work ethic.
Doug was an avid golfer, but enjoyed bowling in the fall and winter months, along with watching sports especially the Minnesota Twins.
Grateful for sharing his life is his children: Brian (Stephanie) Harvey and their children Gavin, Payton and Jackson of Woodbury, MN; Erica (Craig) Trepanier and their son Leo of Apple Valley, MN ; and Jill Vilkama and her children: Ben, Kennedy and Alexander of Roseville, MN. He is also survived by his sister Charlotte Williamson of Redfield and a nephew Kevin Williamson of Lawrence KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
