The Doland High School classmates of 1967 celebrated their 50th reunion at the DEC in Aberdeen, South Dakota on August 2nd. Twenty class members as well as their spouses and friends gathered to reminisce and share memories as they visited and enjoyed the program. Mike Levsen, a 1967 classmate and current mayor of Aberdeen, welcomed the group; and Craig Wollman, the 1967 class president, served as the program’s master of ceremonies. David Mendel paid tribute to the memories of deceased class members (Francis Stahl, Connie Williamson Farris, and Dennis Wipf). Marla Muxen led the group in a series of informal questions about life experiences during the past 50 years. Letters from classmates who were unable to attend were read, and Craig Wollman facilitated a game of trivia about high school events from 1963-1967. Clinton Wipf and David Mendel led the group in opening and closing prayers. A delicious meal, visiting, and 60s music were enjoyed by all.
Class members would like to thank the entire reunion committee. This reunion committee not only organized the event, but also decorated a special “wheel” in honor of the DHS Wheelers and provided flower arrangements and numerous memorabilia. A special note of appreciation goes to Craig Wollman for his creation and maintenance of a Facebook class reunion page. Thanks also to Sally Larsen for the 1967 high school photo name buttons. The reunion committee of Judy Mendel, Diane Rahm, Linda Aamodt, Valarie Vogel, Craig Wollman ,Dave Mendel, Zane Mason, and Clinton Wipf created a wonderful 50th celebration. Classmates from California, Virginia, Colorado, Texas, and South Dakota had a wonderful evening of reminiscing fond memories.
