Dale Edward Marlow died on August 4th, 2022, his 97th birthday. Born in Redfield, he grew up on a farm near Zell along with 2 brothers and 4 sisters, the children of Ben and Rose Marlow. He joined the Navy during WWII and served on the destroyer USS Small, cruising in the Mediterranean. Returning to Redfield with an honorable discharge, he soon bought Westside Texaco, which he operated until the early 60's. He then made the transition from oil and grease to coat and tie, selling clothes at Kenny's Apparel until the store closed in the early 1980's. His final career move was to the maintenance department at the State Hospital and School, where he spent 7 years.

In his private life, Dale was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and shooting, both at game and targets, boating and skiing on Cottonwood Lake. He took flying lessons beginning in 1948, earned his private pilot's license, and bought an Aeronca Champ. His final flight was on Christmas Day, 1966.

Dale joined the Redfield Fire Department in July, 1950 and served until September 1975, the last 5 years as Chief.

He married Virginia Blaedorn in February 1950 and they were wed almost 72 years when she passed away this past February. Also preceding him in death were brothers Howard and Vern and sister Mildred. Surviving sisters are Viola, Elinor, and Donna. Children Claudia Stoner (Bill), Renetta Marlow and Brian Marlow (Ann) also 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

At his request, no service will be held and burial will be a private family ceremony.
