Dakota Tan and Hair in Redfield bought by Muellenbergs

On January 5th, 2018 Jessica and Matt Muellenberg became owners of Dakota Tan and Hair on Redfield's Main Street. Jessica Muellenberg, who has been working at Dakota Tan and Hair under former owner, Pam Schmidt, since early October, is currently running the business following Schmidt's retirement.
"This is something Matt and I decided to do together, knowing that I will be the person at the helm of everything, but he is behind me in it," said Jessica Muellenberg.
Born an O'Daniel, Jessica was raised in Redfield and attended and graduated from Redfield School. She married Matt Muellenberg in August of 2017 and together they have a blended family of four children: Riley (13yrs.), Mason (11yrs.), Karlie (9yrs.) and Kevin (8yrs.).
Jessica attended Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown and is a licensed cosmetologist. For several years, she took a break from cosmetology and did long-term care as a nursing home administrator in Groton.
"I was actually working out of town and I was traveling back and forth. That is what kind of led me back to working in [Redfield] and how I started back in the hair industry," said Muellenberg.
Scmidt, who owned Dakota Tan and Hair for 13 years, said she was happy to pass the keys to Muellenberg.
"I am really excited about Jessica. Really," said Schmidt. "One thing we want everyone to know is that Jessica is going to honor all gift certificates and tanning minutes that are out there. The services will be the same. In addition, Jessica will be doing facials."
Dakota Tan and Hair will keep it's name, but hours will change from 9a.m. - 6p.m. to 9a.m. - 5:30p.m., except Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, the shop will be open for extended hours from 9a.m. to 8p.m. However, Jessica is also flexible with her time.
"I live right here in town, so I am very open to meeting people after hours by appointment for hair services as well as using the tanning bed," said Muellenberg."I just want everybody to be comforted by the fact that things are going to be what they are used to here…Pam has built a great business here and I am very honored to have the opportunity to work [on] and build up what she has started and created. I am really excited."
