On Wednesday, October 18th, the Dakota Access Pipeline donated a total of $260,000 to Emergency Management in 13 counties along its route in South Dakota. Spink County Emergency Manager, Larry Tebben, received a check of $20,000 on behalf of Spink County. The check was presented at the Beadle County Courthouse in Huron, South Dakota early Wednesday afternoon.

According to pipeline management, the donations "can be used by the departments to purchase new equipment, perform additional training, or for any needs that benefit their first responders."

Tebben said that he has suggested to the the Spink County commissioners to split the funds between Spink County Emergency Management, the Redfield Rural Fire Department and the Tulare Rural Fire Department.
