There were 18 loaves of quick bread on display at the Eastern Star Home on Wednesday, August 14th during the Eastern Star’s County Fair Week. The bread, all entered into the Quick Bread Baking Contest for taste testing, included two rhubarb breads, garden bread, zucchini, pumpkin, beer bacon, banana, beer cheese, apple oatmeal, cinnamon, almond poppy seed, banana nut, zucchini chocolate chip, chocolate chip banana, Amish and two peach breads.
The winning bread was a banana nut bread made by Helen Pickes. Second place was apple oatmeal by Ellen Kay Haigh and third was the zucchini chocolate chip by Helen Pickles.
