Calvin, son of Ford and Elizabeth (Geier) Tebbel, was born on February 13, 1945. Calvin grew up and was educated in Doland. He was proud to participate on a harvest run when he was 17 years old with Gleaner Combines. He also worked in the construction business running heavy equipment for several years before starting his career as an over-the-road trucker. He was very happy when he was able to purchase his own semi and work for himself. Calvin was known on the CB radio to his friends and fellow truckers as “Mule Skinner.”
He was a friend to everyone and truly enjoyed visiting with people and getting to know them. He treasured his lifelong friendship with John Lindskov. One of his hobbies was going to auction sales. Calvin, his friend Steven Hennigs, and Steven’s son Christopher Venjohn, traveled to several states to purchase antique tractors. His favorites were Allis-Chalmers. Calvin restored full-size tractors and was also an avid collector of toy tractors. He will always be remembered for the time spent visiting with his friends as well as the big smiles he had when driving his tractors.
Calvin will be missed by the many lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, please forward condolences to John Lindskov, 40224 176th Street, Doland, SD 57436.
