Ozzie Birdsong, a 32 year old man who was briefly incarcerated for robbing the Lutheran and Wesleyan churches in Redfield in recent months, had Oklahoma and Texas law enforcement officers on his tail in a high speed chase on Monday, October 9th, 2017.

"There were four pursuing him on my street. When he reached third street a few blocks away, four more joined in. From my understanding, there were five unmarked police vehicles, two Burkburnett PD marked cars and one Oklahoma LE in total on the chase," said Heather DeVries of Burkburnett, Texas, formerly of South Dakota."I'm guessing they reached upwards of 65 miles per hour in a short amount of time on my street. Someone close to LE said he got up to 135 on third street heading out of town. He's going away for a long, long time."

According to a report by Samantha Forester for News Channel 6, DPS officials said Birdsong failed to stop for Oklahoma Highway Patrol around 11:30 a.m. on Monday morning in Cotton County, Oklahoma.

After fleeing south into Texas, Birdsong headed toward Burkburnett, where Texas Department of Public Safety troopers joined the the pursuit, according to the report.

"Officials said Birdsong was driving a stolen 2018 Dodge Challenger from Four Stars Auto Ranch in Henrietta sometime in the last 24-hours," wrote Forester. "The chase came to an end when Birdsong crashed at the intersection of FM 1739 and Payton Road in Electra. Birdsong was arrested and taken to United Regional with minor injuries."

Birdsong was returned to Oklahoma to face charges.
