Redfield Carnegie Library's Assistant Librarian, Betty Baloun, has retired after 36 years of serving the Redfield community. A retirement party was held for Baloun on Thursday, April 26th, 2018. Cars lined the street as friends, family and patrons visited the library to bid Baloun farewell. Baloun was also given an executive proclamation by South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard, proclaiming April 26th, 2018 as Betty Baloun Day.
Head librarian, Linda Keller, also retired from her position and will be taking Baloun's former position as assistant librarian. Sarah Jones, of Aberdeen, will be moving to Redfield and filling the place of head librarian on May 7th.
