On Saturday, July 15, the first annual Swinging for a Cause fundraising softball tournament was held in Redfield. Funds raised at the tournament were given to the family of the late Jason Fliehe, a Redfield Energy employee.

The tournament, sponsored and planned by Redfield Energy, featured seven teams from the surrounding area. Frankfort placed first with Odland in second, and both teams donated their winnings back to the family.

The planning committee included Trent Sherman, Bob Ratigan, Nathan Schaunaman, and Leslie Ford.

"We'd played a couple times in a softball thing with a couple other ethanol plants," said Ford. "Jason was always our pitcher and we just thought doing something in memory of him - he was with us for five and a half years, was a great employee, and we thought this was something we could do."

Redfield Energy plans to keep hosting the tournament to give back to community members in need.
